Jess Horton lives in Virginia Beach where she is entrenched in the local fitness community. Her company The Fit Petite is an online resource for all things health and fitness related. A great new series from The Fit Petite! Find out where the upcoming races will take place that welcome the younger kids for shorter races including “Walks & Fun Runs”!

Location: Town Point Park, Downtown Norfolk, registration begins at 6:15am
Events: 8K Run, 2-mile Walk, and 1-mile Fun Run
Cost: $15-$50 depending on event
Event Benefits: Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters
Additional Info: After the race, from 10am-12:30pm enjoy Kohl’s FitKids Family Day with live performances from the Hurrah Players, Teens with a Purpose Step and Dance, Mad Science, Zumba, local club Soccer Juggling players and more.

Location: 310 Edwin Drive (Mount Trashmore) Virginia Beach, VA US 23462. Race starts at 9:00am
Events: 5k Walk up race day registrations welcome!
Costs: $25 pre-registration or $30 the day of the race.
Event Benefits: Nestled alongside the shores of beautiful Sebago Lake, Camp Sunshine provides respite, support, joy and hope to children with life-threatening illnesses and their immediate families through various stages of a child’s illness. The year-round program is free of charge to all families, and includes 24-hour onsite medical and psychosocial support. Bereavement groups are also offered for families who have lost a child to an illness. www.campsunshine.org

Location: Mt. Trashmore Park Saturday, June 21, 2014 @ 8:00 a.m.
Events: 5K and 1K fun run/walk
Costs:5K registration is $45 before race day, $50 day of the race. 1K registration is $10. Use Promo Code SUNNY to save $10.00 off your 5K registration. 1k prices stay $10 all the way up until race day!
Event Benefits: 100% of proceeds of Sunny Day 5k will go to the Scholarship Fund of Beach Gathering Montessori Preschool. This scholarship fund helps to provide tuition assistance to families unable to pay. Every dollar raised goes directly to providing assistance for children and families who are in need.
Additional Info:The 1K is great for families and is stroller friendly-and it is only $10 which includes a swag bag full of goodies! Participants of the 5k also get a t-shirt and swag bag and there are gift certificates for top winners.
